Summary of the current event
• There was 1 important major event – Writ Day (Sunday, 10 Sep)
• Taskforce is fully activated.
• ELT Standups activated.
• MIKE will be closed once processing is completed - Roll Close (13/09)
• MIKE is closed. (14/09)
• Data extraction and QA process.
Enrolment
GENERAL UPDATE
• The keying of qualifying forms, final integrity checks and other enrolment processes required
for Writ Day Roll Close have been completed.
• The Data extract for roll print and Easy vote cards started at 7.30am this morning.
• QA of that data will commence this afternoon
• Number of electors enrolled at roll close is 3,480, 699 (89.9%)

1. To commence QA on roll data for the roll print and easy vote cards

UPDATE ON ISSUES:
•
Snaphire stability and performance -Technical change made overnight 13/14 Sep and expected
to resolve underlying issue. System being closely monitored.
•
Key Person risk – Work in progress. Target 19/9.
•
Mobile phone provision for Voting Services – Work underway to address connection gap
identified and regular meetings in place to track and manage.
•
Commission NO power resilience – Generator installation expected to complete by midday,
testing on L4 only @ 6pm on 14/09.

Stuff are planning to do a story on the Freedoms movement and their plans to have scrutineers in
all voting places. We are working with Karl and the Security team on a response.

GENERAL UPDATE:
Services
In the last 24 hours, the team had 344 tickets created, received 43 phone calls and made 17
outbound calls. 80% of tickets were one-touch. Majority of the enquiries received were
enrolment related, followed by the voting enquiries. It is expected the on-hand tickets will
continue to increase over today and tomorrow due to some MIKE functionalities are temporarily
unavailable during the roll extraction. Only 1 outstanding complaint received this morning about
roll type. No significant issue to raise at this stage.

INSIGHTS:
Engagement • Concerns expressed by disability community that the accessibility of voting places is a barrier,
and
noting they feel guidance provided by Commission is unclear (they are seeking more specificity

to the areas they wish to vote in). Raised worries around lighting, wheelchair access,
bathrooms, and the sturdiness of the booths. Noted people are opting not to vote rather than
risk a fall or embarrassment.

The deadline for party lists and bulk nomination of candidates closed at midday today.
One registered party, Democratic Alliance, is not contesting the election.
Party access to the nominations system via the Party Portal is now closed.
To date we have received a total of 557 nominations, made up of 454 electorate candidates and
103 candidates who are list only.
Nominations for candidates using the individual nomination process close at midday tomorrow.

A cold front moves northwards over New Zealand on Thursday and Friday, preceded by a strong

northwesterly flow, and followed by colder southwesterlies. Severe Weather Warnings and

Watches have been issued for this event, and this extends into Friday morning for gale or severe
gale northwesterlies about the lower North Island. Consequently, there is a moderate risk of
severe gale northwesterlies about Marlborough, Wellington, Wairarapa, Tararua District and
Central Hawkes Bay on Friday morning. For more details regarding the current Watches and

Over the weekend, northwesterlies will strengthen again over the country as another series of
fronts move onto central and southern New Zealand. There is moderate confidence of warnable
rainfall amounts over Fiordland, Westland and the Canterbury/Otago headwaters later Saturday
and Sunday, and low confidence over Buller, Kahurangi National Park and the Tararua Range on
Sunday.
Additionally, there is moderate confidence of another period of severe northwest gales about
northern Marlborough, Wellington, Wairarapa, Tararua District and Central Hawke's Bay on
Sunday and Monday morning. There is low confidence of severe northwest gales about other
exposed parts of southern Marlborough, Canterbury, Otago, Southland and southern Fiordland
later Saturday and into Sunday or early Monday, and also low confidence of severe gale west or
southwest winds about southern Fiordland, Southland and Otago (mainly near the coast) later
Sunday and early Monday.
Finally, there is low confidence that westerly winds could reach severe gale about other North
Island areas from southern Northland to Hastings District and Kapiti, and also near Golden Bay,
later Sunday and Monday.
