• Planning for any GE recounts is being finalised.
• The GE23 review with permanent enrolment staff will take place in Wellington on Thursday 9 November.

Port Waikato By-election
• All electoral rolls for Port Waikato by-election have been printed and gone through Quality Assurance.
Distribution is currently underway.
• There is no enrolment processing activity for Port Waikato yet, as MIKE remains closed until the day after the
GE23 Writ is returned.
• To have further discussion on the use of eRoll for the by-election

• For the Port Waikato by election there is Download Voting Paper release tonight 6/11 to upload voting
papers and various preparation tasks as part of readiness for Overseas voting, which starts on 8/11.

Media interest in recounts. Chief Electoral Officer gave two interviews this morning, AM show and Morning
Report and was able to explain the process for undertaking recounts.
Port Waikato public information
• Voting starts soon advertising underway this week. Channels will include metro and local newspapers, radio,
billboards and street posters, online display and social media including Facebook, Instagram and Neighbourly
• Comprehensive by-election information available on vote.nz including voting places, candidates and
information in alternate formats and other languages.
