Severe
A slow-moving low-pressure system lies east of Northland and is gradually weakening. The system

is bringing rain to parts of the North Island with warnings and watches for heavy rain currently in

place. There is an orange heavy rain warning in place for Tairāwhiti, from Tolaga Bay northwards
until 1100hrs tomorrow, with 100 to 120mm of rain expected. An orange heavy rain warning is also
in place for the Ruahine Range, and the inland ranges of Hawke's Bay until 0900hrs tomorrow, with
70 to 90mm of rain expected. Heavy rain watches are in place for many areas across the North
Island including Tairāwhiti, south of Tolaga Bay, the Wairarapa from about Carterton northwards,
the Tararua District not including the Ruahine Range and Hawke's Bay not including the inland
ranges. A severe thunderstorm watch will also be in force today for Auckland, Coromandel
Peninsula, Waikato and Bay of Plenty from 1400hrs to 2000hrs
