Official Information Act request dated 29 May 2024
We refer to your email dated 29 May 2024 requesting information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act). The answers to your specific questions are set out
below.
Request 1: Was Covid 19 a disease reported to Worksafe by TVNZ?
Response 1: No.
Request 2: Did Covid 19 arise out of the nature of work at TVNZ?
Response 2: TVNZ did not collect data on whether COVID19 was transmitted within its
workplace.
Request 3: Is there or was there in the past, any genetic “gain of function” work taking
place at TVNZ on corona viruses, or the nursing of corona virus patients?
Response 3: No.
Request 4: Please provide the written authorisation from the Director General
specifying persons at TVNZ who were authorised enforcement person(s) under
section 18 (2) the Covid-19 Public Health Response Act 2020. Please provide the
functions and powers that could be carried out by the authorised enforcement
person(s) and;
Response 4: TVNZ does not meet the criteria for the Director-General to make this
authorisation to TVNZ (see s18(1) of the Covid-19 Public Health Response Act 2020 Act)
and so no such authorisation was made.
Request 5: Please provide the number of exemptions issued to TVNZ workers under
clause 9 of the Covid 19 Public Health Response (Vaccinations) Order 2021.
Response 5: Zero.
Request 6: Please provide the number of any other exemptions issued to staff, please
provide grounds and number issued.
Response 6: Zero.
Request 7: Please provide, in relation to covid 19 vaccines, any payment TVNZ and/or
its subsidiaries received for each staff member that was vaccinated, the amount and
the scheme the payment was provided under and;
Response 7: No payments or subsidiaries of the kind set out above were received by
TVNZ.
Request 8: Please provide [the details of] any payment TVNZ and/or its subsidiaries
received for leasing or renting floor space for vaccination in 2021 and 2022 , eg super
Saturdays events at any of your facilities. Please include the amount and the scheme
the payment was provided under.
Response 8: None.
As you may know, if you are dissatisfied with this refusal, section 28(3) of the Act
provides you with the right to make a complaint to the Ombudsman in order to seek
an investigation and review of the refusal.
