Dear Neonlightsupermarket
Official Information Act OIA 24.65 Law Reconsiderations information
I refer to the Official Information Act (the Act) request dated 4 June 2024 for information relating to Law
reconsiderations information. You have specifically requested:
Please provide figures for the years 2020-2024 (inclusive) for the Faculty of Law:
1. the total number of internal grade reconsideration requests submitted to the course co-ordinator of a
LAWS or LLAW course,
2. the number of requests that resulted in the grade being increased,
3. the number of requests that resulted in the grade being decreased, and
4. the number of requests that resulted in no change of grade.
Additionally,
5. the number of internal grade reconsideration requests appealed to the Head of School at the Faculty of
Law, and how many of these requests resulted in the grade being increased, decreased, or no change.
The Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 working days after the
day we received your request. Unfortunately, it wil not be possible to meet that time limit and we are
therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time to make our decision, to Wednesday 17 July 2024.
This extension is required because consultations necessary to make a decision on your request are such that a
proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. Due to sick leave in relevant teams
and the volume of requests at this time, consultations on this request have taken longer than they otherwise
would.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information about
how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
Yours sincerely
