OIA: 1330776 – Use of Cambridge Curriculum in New Zealand Schools
Thank you for your email of 13 June 2024 to the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) requesting the
following information:
I would like a spreadsheet of all schools in New Zealand that includes the Cambridge
Curriculum please?
Included in the sheet, I would like data on the School name, what year groups are
educated, type of school, boys/girls/co-ed, region, city, and zones.
Your request has been considered under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act).
The Ministry does not hold a spreadsheet of schools that use the Cambridge Curriculum. As self-
governing entities, schools are not required to report this information to the Ministry. I am therefore
refusing your request under section 18(g)(i) of the Act as the information is not held by the Ministry
and I have no grounds for believing that it is held by another agency subject to the Act.
Some schools have self-reported to the Ministry their level of attainment in a Cambridge
assessment. Please see attached as
Appendix A the self-reported data for 2023, and caveats.
Please note, as stated above schools are not required to report this information to the Ministry, so
the number may not be an accurate representation of which schools in New Zealand use the
Cambridge Curriculum across the sector.
Thank you again for your email. You have the right to ask an Ombudsman to review my decision
on your request, in accordance with section 28 of the Act. You can do this by writing to
[email address] or to Office of the Ombudsman, PO Box 10152, Wellington 6143.
