Official Information Act request relating to Aliens, magic and time travel  
 
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request received on 14 June 2024. 
You requested: 
 
“I am looking for various information covering the last three terms of Government, and 
the current Government of the day. In the interests of expediting your response on this 
subject, I am only seeking briefing titles at this stage.  
 
Could you please supply me with the titles of any and all briefings that discuss the 
below subjects in either their title, or within the contents. Under the Official Information 
Act 1982, please supply information on the following topics:  
 
- Aliens, extra terrestrials, other worldly life forms, the discussion of the possibility of life 
on other planets, or anything else that a person may reasonably interpret to be within 
the scope of this request.  
 
- Magic, witch craft, sorcery, Magick, voodoo or anything else that a person may 
reasonably interpret to be within the scope of this request.  
 
- Time travel, or anything else that a person may reasonably interpret to be within the 
scope of this request. 
 
I  have  interpreted  this  request  to  be  for  any  briefings  held  by  the  Department  of  Prime 
Minister  and  Cabinet  (DPMC)  for  the  period  from  12  December  2016  until  the  date  of  your 
request, 14 June 2024. These dates match the definition of “last three terms of government 
and  the  current  Government”  as  set  out  on  the  Parliament  website:  Governments  in  New 
Zealand since 1856 - New Zealand Parliament (www.parliament.nz) 
 
DPMC  can  only  respond  to  your  request  as  it  relates  to  information  held  or  received  by 
DPMC. If you would like to make further requests for information held by other agencies and

I can advise that DPMC has carried out a search of its electronic data bases for information 
relevant to your request. No documents have been identified as within scope of your request 
and  as  such,  your  request  is  refused  under  section  18(e)  of  the  Act  as  the  requested
