Thank you for your request of 17 June 2024, asking for the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):

Dear Accident Compensation Corporation,
I saw in section 5 (Strategy & Board Priorities) of your Board Meeting Minutes dated April 2024,
that the names of the documents presented by Rēnata Blair were hidden.

Please provide:
1. The reason for hiding the names of those documents, including the person who directed they be
hidden, and the justification for the secrecy.
2. A copy of the two documents you intended to conceal from the public.

Our response
The titles of the papers presented by Rēnata Blair are ‘Waka Hourua Model’ and ‘Māori Relationships
Approach’ as shown under section 5 of the April 2024 Board Minutes and Agenda here:

These papers were in the form of presentations to the Board. Copies of these are attached. We have
withheld the names and personal information of individuals from these papers to protect their privacy. In
doing so, we have considered the public interest in making the information available and have determined
that it does not outweigh the need to protect the privacy of these individuals. This decision is made under
section 9(2)(a) of the Act.

The two redactions under section 5 of the April 2024 Board Minutes are the names of the two non-
executive ACC staff members who presented the Waka Hourua Model and the detailed approach to
developing Māori relationships. Document names have not been redacted.
