Dear Tony,

Response to request for reports referencing the Titanic, and for reports which identified learnings from
the Titanic

I refer to your request of 22 June 2024 for the following:
“Under the OIA, please provide me with the following:
- the number of times any reports you produced detailing investigations into maritime
situations where the Titanic was referenced
- details of any reports you have produced that have identified learnings from the Titanic
disaster as relevant to report findings
If either of the above are too broad, please reduce the scope to reports produced in the

last few years.”
We have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). After
conducting a search through our systems, we could find no reports in scope of your request.
We are therefore refusing your request under section 18(e) of the OIA on the grounds that the
information requested does not exist.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or
freephone 0800 802 602.
If you wish to discuss this decision, please feel free to email us at
[Maritime New Zealand request email].

Yours sincerely
