Thank you for your email on 30 July 2024, asking Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora for the 
following under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):  
I would like an extract of the annual amounts spent by "Sector Operations" from the 
2020/2021, 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 financial years. 
I would like the following details provided: 
- Payee name / Recipient 
- Department or  Name of the program of work 
- Program manager 
- Total Amount Spent” 
Response 
On 01 August 2024, we emailed you to clarify whether you are asking about the Operating Costs of 
Sector Operations, or the amount that Sector Operations pays on behalf of the funders nationwide.  
To date, we have not received your reply. 
Section 12(2) of the Act requires that the information requested shall be specified with due 
particularity in the request. 
In order to provide both sets of amounts, Te Whatu Ora would need to divert personnel from their 
core duties and allocate extra time to complete this task. The diversion of these resources would 
impair Te Whatu Ora’s ability to carry out our other core functions. As such, your request is refused 
under section 18(f) of the Act, as it requires substantial collation.   
 
I have considered whether fixing a charge for the supply of the information or extending the 
timeframe for response would enable Health NZ to respond. I do not consider that either option 
would remove the impact that supplying the information would have on our other operations.
