Thank you for your official information request dated the 3 July 2024 regarding ANPR data. You can find our 
response below: 
Please provide an updated figure the number of records in the ANPR database, and the updated number 
of ANPR Cameras feeding that database.  
As of 17/07/2024, there are 914,455,506 records in the ANPR database, and 500 ANPR cameras.  
ANPR data is held for 7 days unless needed for evidential purposes in which case it is kept for up to 7 years. 
Auckland Transport only retains anonymised ANPR data indefinitely, this means that no individual, person 
or otherwise is identifiable.  
I have attached an excel spreadsheet of ANPR cameras with the new locations. 
Should you believe that we have not dealt with your request appropriately, you are able to make a complaint 
to the Office of the Ombudsman in accordance with section 27(3) of the Act and seek an investigation and 
review regarding this matter.
