Thank you for your email on 12 July 2024, asking Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora for the 
following under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):  
1. Any communications to staff encouraging or requiring them to incorporate karakia 
into their daily activities, or to participate in karakia 
2. Any suggested karakia or example karakia that are used at Health New Zealand 
Response 
Many of our staff choose to incorporate karakia in their daily routine and meetings and we 
want to make that easier for people who are not as familiar with karakia.  
We have produced one video (in-house) containing a karakia about the Health Charter Te 
Mauri O Rongo: Karakia with Raniera Albert on Vimeo. 
The screenshot, below, was shared with staff on our intranet and in our weekly newsletter. 
The communication supports people to incorporate karakia but there is no directive to do so.

Health NZ teams and regions use a range of karakia, as some may have been gifted locally. 
In the all-staff hui the karakia, attached as Appendix 1, is used.
