Official Information Act 1982 request for information regarding the Māori Innovation team 
Thank you for your email of 2 August 2024 requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the 
fol owing information: 
•
The total number of employees and contractors engaged by Cal aghan's "Māori Innovation Group". 
•
The total annual budgeted costs for the present financial year attributable to Cal aghan's "Māori
Innovation Group". 
•
The total annual budgeted salary costs for the present financial year attributable to Cal aghan's "Māori
Innovation Group". 
The total number of employees and contractors engaged by the Māori Innovation team is six ful -time equivalent 
(FTE) staff. 
The total annual budgeted costs for the present financial year attributed to the Māori Innovation team is 2.5 mil ion. 
After careful consideration, we have determined that we must withhold the specific budgeted salary information for 
the Māori Innovation team, under section 9(2)(a) of the Act. This section al ows for the protection of the privacy of 
individuals. Due to the smal  size of the team, releasing the budgeted salary information could lead to speculation of 
individual salaries, which would infringe upon the privacy of the team members.  
In accordance with the “public interest” test under section 9(1) of the Act, I do not consider the withholding of this 
information to be outweighed by other considerations which render it desirable, in the public interest, to make that 
information available.
