Response 
We refer you to our response of 12 July 2024 (HNZ00052889) for the information about batch 
origin locations. 
Health NZ receives a Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for each COVID-19 vaccine, which are 
reviewed by a quality representative prior to delivery to New Zealand. The responsibility for quality 
control testing of their products before release sits with manufacturers. They operate under good 
manufacturing practice and are regularly audited by regulatory authorities. 
To better illustrate, we have included an example COA as Appendix One. You will note that some 
information has been withheld under section 9(2)(b)(ii) of the Act as its release would be likely to 
unreasonably prejudice the commercial position of the person who supplied or who is the subject 
of the information, and section 9(2)(a) of the Act to protect privacy. In making this decision to 
withhold, I have considered the countervailing public interest in release and determined that it does 
not outweigh the need to protect the interest above.
