Thank you for your email of 7 August 2024 to Te Kaunihera o Pōneke | Wellington City Council (the
Council) requesting the following information:
In relation to the Thorndon Quay roading upgrades, please provide any letters, emails, Txt
messages, WhatsApp messages, Signal messages, Viber messages, calendar appointments,
and handwritten/typed notes/recordings of phone conversations/meetings between:
1. Cr Diane Calvert and Thorndon Quay affected business owners
2. Cr Tony Randle and Thorndon Quay affected business owners
3. Cr Ray Chung Thorndon Quay affected business owners
4. Cr Nicola Young Thorndon Quay affected business owners
5. Cr Diane Calvert and Minister Simeon Brown (and/or his staff)
6. Cr Tony Randle and Minister Simeon Brown (and/or his staff)
7. Cr Ray Chung and Minister Simeon Brown (and/or his staff)

Your request has been considered under the Local Government Of icial Information and Meetings Act
1987 (LGOIMA).
In answer to questions 1-4 please find attached Appendix One. Some information has been withheld
from the correspondence pursuant to section 7(2)(a) of the LGOIMA, to protect the privacy of natural
persons and section 7(2)(c) of the LGOIMA, in order to protect information which is subject to an
obligation of confidence.
In answer to questions 5-8, please find attached, Appendix Two. Some information has been withheld
from the correspondence pursuant to section 7(2)(a) of the LGOIMA, to protect the privacy of natural
persons.
As per section 7(1) of the LGOIMA, I do not consider that in the circumstances of this response, the
withholding of this information is outweighed by the other considerations which render it desirable to
in the public interest to make the information available.
In answer to questions 9-12, no correspondence was found between the relevant Councillor and
recipient, therefore I am refusing those portions of your request pursuant to section 17(e) of the
LGOIMA, as the document alleged to contain the information requested does not exist, or despite
reasonable efforts to locate it, cannot be found.
You have the right, by way of complaint under section 28(1) of the LGOIMA, to request an
investigation and review of the Council’s decision to withhold information by the Ombudsman.
