Re: LG24-0212 - CCTV parking ticket money - statistics for each camera
Dear
P W French,
REQUEST FOR OFFICIAL INFORMATION – DECISION TO RELEASE INFORMATION FOR A CHARGE
Thank you for your request for information held by the Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC).
On 19 August 2024 you requested the following information under the Local Government Official
Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA):
1. Confirm that all current "public use" CCTV cameras monitored by QLDC are shown at Link
2. If there are any additional CCTV cameras that have been omitted, apart from the four
additional CCTV cameras detailed at Link 1, please provide names and locations of those
additional CCTV cameras.
2. Confirm that images from "some of" (which might be just "a few of") those CCTV cameras
have been used for the purpose of issuing one or more "parking ticket".
3. Identify (e.g., from the list provided in Link 2) those CCTV cameras which, since their
installation, have been used at least once for the purpose of issuing a "parking ticket".
4. For each of those [CCTV] cameras [which have been identified as having been used at least
once for the purpose of issuing a "parking ticket"], please advise:
a) its name;
b) its location (if that is not clear from its name);
c) the installation date of that camera;
d) any alternative name/label that QLDC uses for that camera;
e) the number of "parking tickets" issued by QLDC - for each financial year (since the
camera was installed) - using images provided by that camera;
f) the amount of "parking ticket" money invoiced/received by QLDC - for each financial
year (since the camera was installed) - due to the use of images provided by that camera.
QLDC Response
Decision to release information for a charge
We have decided to grant your request for official information subject to payment of a charge. The
current scope of your request requires significant time and attention to address. This additional
workload will notably impact the efficiency of the QLDC Parking Enforcement Team’s daily
operations.
1
We estimate that the maximum charge will be $1,824 (including GST). This charge is based upon 25
hours of staff time at a rate of $38 per 30 minutes, less $76 in recognition of QLDC’s ‘first hour free’
policy. Any unused component of this charge will be refunded to you.
Before we proceed further with your request, please confirm in writing your agreement to the
charge. If you agree to accept the charge, QLDC will issue you with an invoice, and will send you the
information requested within 20 working days of your payment.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
Information about this process is available
at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800
802 602.
We trust this response satisfactorily answers your request.
Kind regards,
Democracy Services team
