Dear Andrew
Official Information Act request: Advice on projects of local authorities
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request, received on 24 August
2024. You requested:
“In your speech this last week to local authority representatives you admonished local
authorities for activities you described as 'laundry-list of distractions and experiments'
and as 'fantasies'. Please provide copies of all reports, briefings, advice, and such
similar communications you have received this year on this 'laundry-list of distractions
and experiments' and of 'fantasies' allegedly being undertaken by local authorities.”
Your request for copies of documentation and communications received that relate to
this
'laundry-list of distractions and experiments' and of 'fantasies' allegedly being undertaken by
local authorities’ is refused under section 18(e) of the Act, as the documents you have
requested do not exist.
However, the Prime Minister regularly meets with elected representatives from local
government, often in informal settings, who raise requests for additional financial support for
a range of initiatives.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under
section 28(3) of the Act.
Yours sincerely
Cameron Burrows
Chief of Staff
