Thank you for your email of 30 August 2024 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment 
(MBIE) requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following: 
 
I would Like more information regarding the visa applications received since October 2022 and draw 
results and visa applications broken down by country. 
 
1 - In November 2023, all EOIs in the queued pool were selected, so how many approvals per year 
wil  happen from 2024 onwards? When wil  2500 visas be granted per year for people in the pool? 
 
2 - What is the current application status received by month since October 2022?

3 - Can you please break down the EOI and Applications received + status since October 2022? 
 
4 - This is such simple information to gather; why is it not provided on the immigration website 
regularly, following the example of DIA? 
 
5 - How can I check the status of the EOI we submitted and check if it's about to expire? And why 
this expiration period? It looks like immigration wants to get money without providing visas. It 
should at least grant a number of visas by EOI dates. 
 
Our Response 
 
Once all the Parent Resident visa applications based on queue Expressions of Interest (EOI) submitted 
before 10 October 2022 are decided, the full annual quota of 2,500 visas will be available to people who 
make visa applications based on ballot EOIs.

Please note INZ reports decisions on applications by month decided rather than by month submitted, to 
give transparency to the number of visas issued during the year. Please refer to the appendix for Parent 
Resident Visa data by application submission month.

Ballot EOIs expire two years after the date that they are submitted if they are not selected. To check the 
status of an EOI, you can contact the immigration contact centre on 0508 558 855. 
 
The benefit of a bal ot system is that it prevents a large queue of EOIs from forming and ensures that 
EOIs in the pool are more current.
