Thank you for your official information request received on 10 September 2024. You requested:
Please release al documents relating to the recent adoption of a Māori name, and
associated costs incurred by the Ministry.
Going forward, will the Ministry refer to itself as either Te Manatu Waeture, or its
bilingual name?
We initially collated what we believed to be al of the information in scope of your request.
However, we have recently identified further documents that we need to consider for release, and
have not yet been able to carry out the consultations necessary to make a decision on releasing
them to you.
In accordance with section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA, we are extending the due date for us to make and
communicate a decision on your request. We wil respond to you as soon as possible, and by 12
November 2024 at the latest.
I can advise you that the Ministry did not incur any costs for the selection and adoption of its Māori
name, Te Manatū Waeture.

We will also shortly be publishing on our
website2 our 16 August Weekly Report to the Minister for
Regulation, which provided the Minister with information about adoption of our Māori name.
