Official Information Act 1982 request: Contracts between MOJ and Community Law
Canterbury
Thank you for your email to the Ministry of Justice (the Ministry) of 9 October 2024,
requesting under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), information regarding
contracts
between the Ministry and Community Law Canterbury (CLC). Specifically, you requested:
1. A copy of the current contracts (including any amendments) between the Ministry of
Justice and Community Law Canterbury/Te Ture Whanui O Waitaha Incorporated.
This includes, but is not limited to, the general legal services contract and the Family
Legal Advice and Information Service contract.
2. Information relating to any audits undertaken by the MOJ to ensure contracted
targets are being met.
3. Information on any other steps taken by MOJ to ensure information provided by
Community Law Canterbury is accurate.
In response to your request, please refer to the at ached table, outlining documents that are
in scope of your request, and my decision on their release. Some information has been
withheld under the following provisions of the Act:
• section 9(2)(a) to protect the privacy of natural persons; and
• section 9(2)(ba)(i) to protect information subject to an obligation of confidence
Regarding part three of your request, in addition to the documents being provided, I can
advise that CLC submit quarterly reports to the Ministry, as per its outcome agreement. The
Ministry reviews the report and wil contact the provider if it has any questions. The Ministry
also carries out a quarterly monitoring meeting via Microsoft Teams with each CLC provider
and an annual in-person meeting with each provider.
