Official Information Act 1982 request: Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority

Thank you for your email to the Ministry of Justice (the Ministry) of 11 October 2024,
requesting under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) information concerning the
Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority. Specifically, you requested:

I, noted, you have recently call for nomination for your Appointments to the Alcohol
Regulatory and Licensing Authority - Member

https://www.justice.govt.nz/about/statutory-vacancies/#ARLAMember

May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for

public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. Also, how many applications you have
received from the public and how many you have received from other nominating
agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for your role. How many you have
shortlisted and how many you have interviewed.

Expressions of interest were sought via notice on the Ministry website and by letter from the
Associate Minister of Justice to caucus colleagues requesting nominations.
Sixteen expressions of interest were received, three of which were nominated by coalition
members. No expressions of interest were received by agencies such as Te Puni Kōkiri or
the Ministry for Women.
Shortlisting of the applicants is yet to occur, and therefore, no interviews have been
conducted.
Please note that this response, with your personal details removed, may be published on the
Ministry website at: justice.govt.nz/about/official-information-act-requests/oia-responses/
