Official Information Act Request (Our Ref: OIA/0408)
We refer to your Official Information Act request of 22 October 2024.
You request:
During the commissioner's two previous reporting years and current year - whichever is
convenient to obtain information from relating to current and two previous calendar years.
Which or How many investigations the commissioner has commenced that could be
counted as under the act s. 79(b) by the commissioner's own initiative.
If the commissioner also have any data surrounding what or at least what area the
investigations were in e.g. internet privacy etc. this would be helpful for research purposes.
Your request is declined under section 18(e) of the Official Information Act on the basis that
we do not hold the information you have requested. According to our records, the Privacy
Commissioner has not commenced any investigations on his own initiative under s79(b) of the
Privacy Act 2020 over this period.
Please note however that the Privacy Commissioner has exercised his regulatory functions to
engage or inquire into various privacy matters, including under section 17(1)(i) of the Privacy
