Official Information Act request: Criminal Case Review Commission
Thank you for your request of 9 November 2024, to the Ministry of Justice (the Ministry)
requesting, under the Of icial Information Act 1982 (the Act) information relating to the
Criminal Case Review Commission. Specifically, you requested:
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for
public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. Also, how many applications you have
received from the public and how many you have received from other nominating
agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for your role. How many you have
shortlisted and how many you have interviewed in this recruitment round. May I also
seek a copy of the ad went out to public and the appointment letter sent to the
appointee, feel free to redact any personal information.
Please find a response to your request as set out below.
1. How the Ministry cal ed for public nominations?
Expressions of interest were invited via an advertisement on the Ministry’s website.
Nominations for these positions were also invited from members of the Government Caucus
and Coalition parties. No nominations were received from those sources.
2. On what platform did the Ministry call for public nominations?
The Ministry’s website.
3. How many applications the Ministry received from the public?
Two expressions of interest were received for the Chief Commissioner position. Sixteen
expressions of interest were received of the Commissioner roles.
4. How many applications the Ministry received from other nominating agencies
such as Te Puni Kōkiri or Ministry of Women etc for the role?
No expressions of interest were received from the nominating agencies you listed.
5. How many applications the Ministry shortlisted and how many people the
Ministry interviewed in this recruitment round?
Interviews were not conducted so there was no shortlist.
6. A copy of the ad that went out to public and the appointment letter sent to the
appointee.
Expressions of interest were invited via advertisements in Capital Letter and Law Points, as
attached to this response. The positions were also posted on the Ministry’s website, and that
posting is attached to this response, as well as the appointment letter.
