Official Information Act request relating to Communications about Aaron Smale from 
July 2024 to 12th November 2024. 
 
Thank you for your request made under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), received 
on 12 November 2024. You requested: 
 
“Under the OIA please provide all communications if any, concerning journalist Aaron 
Smale from July 2024 through to 12th November 2024.” 
 
The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet holds information related to your request 
only in the capacity that the Department provides administrative assistance to the Prime 
Minister’s Office in answering requests for official information. On this basis, I believe the 
information you have requested is more closely connected to the functions of the Prime 
Minister, Rt Hon Christopher Luxon. Accordingly, I have decided to transfer your request to 
the Prime Minister, Rt Hon Christopher Luxon under section 14(b)(ii) of the Act. 
 
The  Prime  Minister  has  the  usual  timeframes  under  the  Act  from  receipt  of  this  transfer  to
