Official Information Act 1982 request for information on the Workday Implementation at Callaghan
Innovation
Thank you for your email of 16 November 2024 requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act),
the following information:
Please provide information on the full cost of the implementation of Workday, the ongoing running costs
of Workday per annum, and Finance Team staff count pre and post the Workday project including
contractors.
Please also provide any business cases, proposals, RFPs, tenders, post implementation reviews, or
other similar documents which form the justification of investment into Workday rather than
dynamics business central/NZ based HR platforms
Your request has been broken down into five parts, please find a response to each of these parts set out
below:
1. Full cost of the implementation of Workday
The cost of delivering Workday as of 26 November 2024 is $10.397m
2. The ongoing running costs of Workday per annum
Workday was implemented in September of 2024, therefore the annual running cost figures are not yet
available, as the programme has not yet been running for a full 12 months.
Therefore, we are declining part 2 of your request in accordance with section 18(e) of the Act, as the

information you requested does not yet exist.
3. Finance Team staff count pre and post the Workday project including contractors.

4. Provide any business cases, proposals, RFPs, tenders, post implementation reviews, or other
similar documents which form the justification of investment into Workday rather than dynamics
business central/NZ based HR platforms.
There are
seven documents in scope of your request, these documents are itemised, along with our
decision on the release of each document, in the document schedule enclosed.
It is necessary to withhold some information under the following section of the Act:
• Section 9(2)(b)(i ), to protect information where releasing the information would be likely to
unreasonably prejudice the commercial position of the person who supplied or who is the subject of
the information.
5. Post implementation review Information.
As noted in point two, Workday was implemented in September of 2024, therefore post implementation
review information is not yet available, as the programme has not yet been running for a full 12 months.
Therefore, we are declining part 5 of your request in accordance with section 18(e) of the Act, as the
information you requested does not yet exist.
In accordance with the “public interest” test under section 9(1) of the Act, I do not consider the withholding
of this information to be outweighed by other considerations which render it desirable, in the public interest,
to make that information available.
