Thank you for your request, received on 25 November 2024, for the following information under the
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
•
Information on the number of new applications for funding for PTEs from 2020 to 2024 (to
date).
Identifying applications for additional funding for previously funded PTE's and new previously
unfunded PTEs
Applications received year on year.
Applications allocated funding and Rationale.
Applications declined funding and Rationale.
Percentage of TEC funding allocated to PTE's for each of the years above.
I am releasing the information as referenced in the attached table.
Each of the
External Rationales for Plan Assessment tables outline the different criteria that may not
have been met in a declined funding application, and have been categorised in the following way:
• Strategic Intent (SI)
• Mix of Provision (MOP)
• Additional Funding Request (AFR)
• Educational Performance Indicator Commitments (EPIC)
• Programme Development Maintenance Fund (PDMF) (NB: this fund is being discontinued
in 2025)
• COVID-19 plan
• Learner Success Plan (LSP)
• Disability Action Plan (DAP)
• Unified Funding System (UFS)
The last document referenced
New Providers Funding Decisions and Allocations 2020 - 2024 provides
you with a list of al new providers that have requested funding, and the outcome of their request. It
also has tabled the percentage of TEC funding allocated to PTE's each year.
Please note, new requests are as at 25 November 2024 and some new provider requestors listed for
2024 are currently in the Right of Response process for declined decisions. The outcome of the
decision for these providers may change as a result of the Right of Response process.
I regret that I am not able to provide you with each individual PTE’s specific application and decision
rationale that you have requested for the following reason/s in accordance with the Act:
• commercially sensitive information, under section 9(2)(b)(ii) – to protect the commercial
position of the person who supplied the information, or who is the subject of the
information,
• obligation of confidentiality, under section 9(2)(ba)(i) – would be likely to prejudice the
supply of similar information, or information from the same source.
I am satisfied, in terms of section 9(1) of the Act, that the need to withhold the information referred
to above is not outweighed by other considerations that render it desirable, in the public interest, to
make the information available.
