[FYI request #29381 email]
Ref: PMO 221-2024-25
Dear Andy,
Official Information Act request: Examples of health initiatives partnering with iwi
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request, received on 29 November
2024. You requested:
“… [1] all the other examples of this approach [of partnering with local iwi and
Māori groups] that the government have taken since coming to office
[…and]
[2] a list of all the meetings you've had "with iwi leaders up and down the
country", just the dates and who you met with is fine for now…”
Part 1 of your request was transferred to the Minister of Health, under section 14(b)(ii) of the
Act, on 5 December 2024.
I am now in a position to respond to part 2 of your request, which I have interpreted as being
for the names of iwi leaders with whom the Prime Minister has met with in their capacity as
iwi or hapū representatives between 27 November 2023 (the date he assumed office) and 29
November 2024 (the date of your request).
Information being released
In accordance with section 16(1)(e) of the Act, I have decided to provide a table that
summarises the information held by this Office related to your request about the Prime
Minister’s meetings with iwi leaders. It includes as much information as possible, noting that
not all the names of the iwi, hapū, or their leaders are held.
Where information about one or more meetings is not held, this is refused in full under
section 18(g), as the information requested is not held by the Prime Minister and I have no
grounds for believing that the information is either—
i.
held by another department or Minister of the Crown or organisation, or by a local
authority; or
ii.
connected more closely with the functions of another department or Minister of the
Crown or organisation or of a local authority.
