Tēnā koe Tony
I refer to your information request dated 11 December 2024 made under the O icial
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
My child has been wait listed for the 2025 MB ChB programme. This however does not
give my child nor others any idea where they stand and the likelihood of being accepted.
Could we please get a listing of all applicants average academic score (high to low)
showing which scores were given o ers and which scores were wait listed (All
categories thanks).
I would really appreciate any haste that could be put into this request as there are many
anxious young people we know in the same position, and having this transparency
where they stand could help prepare them for next year.
Our response to your request follows.
Unfortunately it is not possible at this time to provide the detailed information you seek about
waitlists for the medical degree programme (MB ChB) in 2025. Admissions processes for this
programme are still ongoing and are not expected to be finalised until the end of February 2025.
This includes academic achievement, and this process will not be complete until relevant
results are available, including Special Consideration exams.
We therefore decline your request under section 18(g) of the Act, as the information requested
is not held at this time. However, once admissions processes have concluded, the University
has in the past provided information of the type sought in your request, including minimum
academic scores for MB ChB programme entry, usually available in the first quarter of each
year. We would be happy to consider a new request from you when the application process is
completed if you still wish to receive this information.
If you are not satisfied with our response to your information request, section 28(3) of the Act
provides you with the right to ask an Ombudsman to investigate and review this response.
However, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.
