[FYI request #29719 email] Tēnā koe John
I refer to your request received on 23 January 2025, which has been considered under
the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). You requested the following information about
nominations to the Sport NZ board:
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have
call for public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. Also, how many applications
you have received from the public and how many you have received from other
nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for your role. How
many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed in this
recruitment round. May I also seek a copy of the ad went out to public and the
appointment letter sent to the appointee, feel free to redact any personal
information.
Appointments to the Sport NZ board are made in accordance with section 28 and
Schedule 5 of the Crown Entities Act 2004. A public call for nominations is not required
under this Act and was not conducted in the most recent round of appointments. No
nominations were received from the public.
Candidates were compiled by searching the Manatū Taonga register of nominations
(which includes members of the public who have expressed interest in being a Crown
board member), and by seeking nominations from caucus and coalition party
colleagues. A list of 17 candidates was compiled, and eight candidates were
interviewed.
Information being released
Please find enclosed a PDF titled ‘DOIA25-008, Documents for release’, which
contains the Cabinet Appointments and Honours Committee paper from 25 November
2024 and the appointment letters that were sent to appointees on 28 November 2024.
I have decided to release these documents subject to information being withheld under
section 9(2)(a) of the OIA – to protect the privacy of natural persons.
