Dear Adam
Official Information Request
Our Ref: PSCR 2025-0032
I refer to your official information request received on 16 January 2025 for:
“I am writing to request, under the Official Information Act, the total number of public
servants who have lost their jobs as a result of cost-saving measures implemented by the
current government. I would appreciate it if this information could be broken down by each
government agency.”
Our Response
Te Kawa Mataaho Public Service Commission (the Commission) does not hold the total number of
all Public Servants who were made redundant as a result of the Financial Sustainability Programme
(FSP). I am therefore refusing your request under section 18(g)(i) of the Official Information Act 1982
on the grounds that the information requested is not held by the department and we have no
grounds for believing that the information (in its entirety) is held by another department.
We have provided below the information relevant to the Commission. You wil need to contact
agencies individual y for their relevant information.
As at 16 January 2025, 11 employees at the Commission were made redundant fol owing the
Commission’s Financial Sustainability Programme change process.
If you wish to discuss this decision with us, please feel free to contact
[email address]. You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
