Thank you for your request of 27 February 2025 to Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities, for 
the following information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):  
‘1. How many purchases, by year, have been made in the last five years as part of this program? 
2. What were the sale prices and geographic regions of these purchases? 
3. What was the average tenancy period with Kāinga Ora prior to initiating a purchase through 
the Tenant Home Ownership program?’  
 
I have attached a table which provides details on Tenant Home Ownership Programme sales 
from August 2019 to 28 February 2025. The tables provide the town, city, region, and sale price 
of these sales.  
 
The length of time a buyer was a tenant of Kāinga Ora prior to initiating a purchase through the 
Tenant Home Ownership programme was not recorded. Therefore, I am declining your request 
for an average tenancy period of buyers under section 18(g) of the Act as ‘the information is not 
held by the department.’  
 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this response.
