Re: Methamphetamine related cleansing orders 
 
I refer to your email, which we received on 10 August 2015, requesting information about the 
number of Cleansing Orders issued related to methamphetamine contamination from 2012 
to 2015. 
 
Council databases for the Central, Southern and Western areas of Auckland show the 
following information:

Please note that the above information does not include data from the Northern Area 
(encompassing the areas of the former North Shore City Council and Rodney District 
Council) as we are unable to extract this information from the legacy systems. For these 
areas, Cleansing Orders are placed on the property files for affected properties, but are not 
recorded centrally and in order to calculate the number of EHO’s for this area would require 
a review of all property files. Because of the large amount of research that would be 
required, we need to refuse the request as it relates to these areas under s17(f) of the Act.  
 
Should you believe Auckland Council has not responded appropriately to your request, you 
have the right to apply to the Ombudsmen to seek a review of the decision.
