Thank you for your email of 23 March 2025, requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982
(the Act), information relating to expressions of interest sought for the appointment of the Director
of Human Rights Proceedings. Specifically, you requested:
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for
public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. A copy of your ad as well. Also, how many
applications you have received from the public and how many you have received from
other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for your role. How many
you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed. Also, can I request to view the
appointment letter if there is one sent to the previous appointee. I am happy for you to
remove all the personal information.
Each of your questions have been answered, in turn, below.
Question one: Public nominations
Calls for expression of interest were made via the Ministry of Justice website and the following
publications: LawPoints, Capital Letter and LawNews. A copy of the advertisement is
attached to
this response.
Question two: Applications received
Three expressions of interest have been received, none from any external agency.
Question three: Shortlists and interviews
Shortlisting and interviews have not yet taken place.
Question four: Appointment letter
A draft copy of the letter sent to the previous incumbent is
attached to this response.
