Thank you for your request to the Department of Conservation (DOC), received on 25 March
2025, in which you asked for information on the nomination process for appointments to the
Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve Board:
May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you have call for
public nominations e.g. govt.jobs website. Also, how many applications you have
received from the public and how many you have received from other nominating
agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for your role. How many you have
shortlisted and how many you have interviewed in this recruitment round. May I also
seek a copy of the ad went out to public and the appointment letter sent to the
appointee, feel free to redact any personal information.

We have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the OIA).
Your questions and our responses are listed below:
1. How you called for public nominations and on what platform you have called for public
nominations e.g. govt.jobs website?
Response: The nomination process for the Board was advertised in the Motueka
Guardian on 28 August 2024 and was also on the DOC Website. Letters were sent to
Tasman District Council and Te Tauihu iwi about the nomination
process. Nominations closed on 27 September 2024.
2. How many applications you have received from the public and how many you have
received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry of women etc for
your role?
Response
: Fourteen (14) nominations were received through the public nomination
process. No nominations were received from Te Puni Kokiri (TPK) or Ministry of
Women.
3. How many you have shortlisted and how many you have interviewed in this
recruitment round?
Response: A shortlisting and interview process was not used for the appointment
process.
4. A copy of the ad that went out to public
Response
: The advert for the nominations is at:

5. Copies of appointment letters sent to the appointees
Response: These are listed in the document schedule in Attachment One (attached)
and attached as Attachment Two. The letters are not dated but were signed by the
Minister of Conservation on 12 March 2025.

• personal information, under section 9(2)(a) – to protect the privacy of natural persons,
including deceased people,
In making my decision, I have considered the public interest considerations in section 9(1) of the
