Official information request for COVID-19 Data 
I refer to your official information request dated 2 April 2025 for the following information: 
“Please confirm: Is Ashley Bloomfield responding to this request that the fatality rate is 4603 
divided by 2717063 ? Ie the fatality rate for Covid 19 is 0.1694 %?”  
 
Our Response  
We have transferred your request to Te Whatu Ora. The information to which your request 
relates, namely the fatality rate for COVID-19, is not held by ESR but is believed to be held by 
Te Whatu Ora. In these circumstances, we are required by section 14 of the OIA to transfer 
your request. 
Please note that ESR responses to requests made under the Official Information Act are signed 
off by the relevant General Manager, rather than the Chief Executive. 
You will hear further from Te Whatu Ora concerning your request.
