[FYI request #30555 email]
Dear Marcus
Official Information Request
Our Ref: PSCR 2025-0354
I refer to your official information request received on 28 March 2025:
“I'd like to know whether you are aware of any ministers that currently or historical y have
used operational email aliases.
It's apparently common practice in the United States for the sitting Attorney General to use
an alias when conducting government business, to guard against security risks and so I'm
curious to know if any of our ministerial roles use the same trick.
As an example; AG Merrick Garland used abraham.rose\@usdoj.gov as his email address
during his tenture while AG Loretta Lynch had used elizabeth.carlisle\@usdoj.gov during her
tenture. With that, I'm interested in a list of ministerial roles (if any) that use operational
email aliases. If there are any roles, I would also like to know the various aliases used by
previous holders of those roles. I don't expect to know aliases for current holders but I would
like confirmation if one is actively being used in some capacity”.
Information does not exist
The Commission does not hold any information relating to Minister’s using operational email
aliases. Therefore, we are refusing your request in full under section 18(e) of the Official Information
Act 1982 (OIA) on the grounds the information requested does not exist.
