Dear Anita
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
Thank you for your request dated 11 January 2016 under the Official Information Act
1982 (OIA) for information relating to dexamfetamine.
You asked for all the information PHARMAC holds on the current supply management
issue for dexamfetamine, particularly the cause, management, mitigation and resolution
of this issue. Section 15A of the OIA allows an extension of the time limit for a response
if consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a proper
response to the request cannot be made within the original time limit.
This situation applies to your request. Accordingly, PHARMAC is extending the response
date for your request in accordance with section 15A of the OIA by a further 20 working
days to
14 March 2016.
We are however able to release some of the information you have requested at this time
and you can find this information attached. This includes:
1. an internal document of memorandum about dexamfetamine
2. fax sent to all community pharmacies from PHARMAC about the potential supply
issue for dexamfetamine
3. a general letter from PHARMAC regarding the dexamfetamine limited supply
issue.
Please note you have the right, by way of complaint under section 28(3) of the OIA to an
Ombudsman, to seek an investigation and review of our decision to extend the
timeframe for a full response.
Yours sincerely
