Dear «MAILNAME»,
FEEDBACK SUMMARY:
Alberton Avenue Bus Stop
We recently asked for your feedback on Auckland Transport’s proposal to relocate the bus stops outside No.
75 Alberton Avenue to be outside No. 61-63 Alberton Avenue. We are now contacting you to let you know
the outcome of this feedback.
Consideration of public feedback
We received mixed feedback regarding this proposal, and we would like to provide a response to a few
queries we received:
Will this improve visibility at the zebra crossing?
Due to the numerous concerns from the school and the residents, Auckland Transport has proposed to
remove the bus stop outside of property No 75 Alberton Avenue to improve the visibility of northbound traffic
on Alberton Avenue for pedestrians at the zebra crossing. However, the high demand for the bus stop usage
by school children during the school peak times was the reason Auckland Transport investigated the
alternative location of the bus stop to be outside properties No 61 to 69. Please note that his bus stop is only
used for school buses during school peak times.
How will access to driveways be affected?
Buses will only be stopping at the bus stop temporarily to allow passengers to embark or disembark, and
drivers will stay with the buses while parked at the bus stop. In most cases, driveways and accessways will
be kept clear, and if extra space is needed the drivers will accommodate upon request. If this is not the case
please feel free to contact Auckland Transport to dispatch for parking enforcement.
Can the bus stop be placed on the opposite side of the road?
Unfortunately the bus stop cannot be placed on the opposite side of the road. School buses follow specific
routes, and relocating the bus stops would force buses to u-turn somewhere along the street. This would
cause traffic blockages and delays, and would potentially result in property damage as the road carriageway
width is limited. Location is further limited as the bus stop needs to stay in relevant proximity for the school
to use.
We acknowledge the concerns raised, and have carefully considered the implications of the proposed
changes. After consideration of all factors, it has been determined that the original proposal represents the
optimal location for the bus stop.

Next Steps
As a result of the feedback and after careful consideration, the proposal will proceed to the next stage of
detailed planning.
We expect to introduce this work between July 2016 and June 2017, subject to any further changes in design
or funding issues.
Contractors will issue 48-hour notice to all affected residents prior to construction work.
