Dear Sir/Madam,
HAVE YOUR SAY:
Alberton Avenue Bus Stop
Auckland Transport is currently working with Mt Albert Grammar School, Marist College, and Marist Primary
School to implement a Safer Communities programme.
Auckland Transport’s Safer Communities programme is intended to provide safety and accessibility for all
road users. This programme’s objective directly aligns with Auckland Council’s vision of making Auckland
one of the world’s most liveable cities.
As part of the Safer Communities programme, Auckland Transport is seeking feedback on a proposal to
relocate the bus stops outside No. 75 to outside No.61-63 Alberton Avenue.
We’ve included a consultation plan showing the proposed changes along with a freepost feedback form to
be returned to us by 3 March 2016.
What are the proposed changes?
Auckland Transport is proposing the following improvements:
Removing the bus stop outside No. 75 Alberton Avenue (approaching the zebra crossing) and
extend the no stopping at all times roadmarking;
Remarking the school bus stops outside No. 67 and No. 69 Alberton Avenue (on the departure from
the zebra crossing) as one larger school bus stop and extending the school bus stop to outside No.
61 - 63 Alberton Avenue. The proposed school bus stop will remain operational between
8:00am to 9:00am and 3:00pm to 4:00pm only.
Install bus stop road marking at the existing bus stop outside Mt Albert Grammar School.
Why are the changes required?
The zebra crossing outside of No. 73 Alberton Avenue is heavily used during the school afternoon peak
hours. When a bus is parked at the bus stop outside No 75 Alberton Avenue (approaching the zebra
crossing), it severely impedes visibility between the pedestrians and approaching vehicles. By removing
this bus stop and providing a longer bus stop outside No. 61 to No. 69 Alberton Avenue (on the
departure from the zebra crossing), we will improve the visibility and safety for all road users. The larger
bus stop also will ensure that buses have adequate space to safely manoeuvre in and out of the bus
stop.
These improvements aim to make the road and footpath environment safe as part of our coordinated
plan to develop safer road layouts, promote sustainable travel and ensure ease of passage for those
travelling on foot. As part of these improvements, Auckland Transport will also upgrade any sub-
standard street lighting as and when required.
How do I provide feedback?
