Dear Mr McKenzie
Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987
Re: proposed upgrade to Emily Place
I refer to your email, which we received on 11 October 2016, requesting the drawings and
the timeframes for the proposed upgrade to Emily Place.
Our response is as follows:
1) There are no specific designs for Emily Place. The City Centre Master Plan
2012 (CCMP) does include a vision for this area however all such
aspirations within the CCMP require further development before they
become specific redevelopment projects. This has not happened for this
area to date. This work typically follows a process of an urban design study
of the area and its surrounding context, and then the formulation of a
specific design and consultation brief that defines the start o f a specific
p r o j e c t .
2) As above, there is no defined project yet and so no defined construction
timeframe. However there is a budget of $2.5 million of City Centre
Targeted Rate allocated to Emily Place in 2019/20. We are looking at a
start on design in two years at the earliest.
Note: the specific design and scope and extent of works of the project will not
necessarily be what is shown in the CCMP. That will be determined by a more
thorough understanding of the needs and opportunities -which will come from
study and consultation.
Should you believe Auckland Council has not responded appropriately to your request, you
have the right by way of complaint, under section 27(3) of the LGOIMA, to apply to the
Ombudsmen to seek an investigation and review of the decision.
