In response to your Official Information Act (OIA) request of 17 November 2016 please see
below for our responses to your request.
Number of Official Information Requests received in 2015 and 2016. (calendar years)

Number of Official Information Requests answered within the formal deadline in 2015
and 2016
We interpret formal deadline to encompass those timeframes set out under the Official
Information Act 1982 and includes those responses that were extended and answered within
the specified extended timeframes.
2015: 12
2016: 26
Number of Official Information Requests answered after extension of the deadline in
2015 and 2016
2015: Nil
2016: Nil
No Official Information Requests were answered after the extension of the deadline in either
2015 or 2016.
In 2015 5 Official Information Requests were extended, all 5 of these were answered within
the extended timeframe.
In 2016 7 Official Information Requests were extended, all 7 of these were answered within
the extended timeframe
Al of these extensions were to allow for consultations necessary to make a decision on the
request, that were not able to be reasonably made within the original time limit.
As per s15a(1)(b) of the Official Information Act 1982.
15A Extension of time limits
(1)
Where a request in accordance with section 12 is made or transferred to a department or
Minister of the Crown or organisation, the chief executive of that department or an officer or
employee of that department authorised by that chief executive or that Minister of the Crown
or that organisation may extend the time limit set out in section 14 or section 15(1) in respect
of the request if—
(b)
Consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that a proper response
to the request cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit.
