20 December 2016
Dear Dr Harrison
Thank you for your request dated 25 November 2016 under the Official Information Act 1982
(OIA) for information relating to the management of Stelazine (trifluoperazine) supply. You
asked for:
information, documentation, costings, advice sought and provided, correspondence
between suppliers, manufacturers, pharmacy wholesalers, regarding the management
of supply of Stelazine (trifluoperazine); and
all documentation and advise received/sought from patients, customers, MPs,
pharmacists/pharmacies, doctors, nurses/all health care professionals regarding the
supply of Stelazine (trifluoperazine) in recent times.
Section 15A of the OIA allows an extended time limit for a response if consultations with
external parties are necessary, and are unable to be done within the original time limit.
This situation applies to your request. Accordingly, PHARMAC is extending the response date
for your request in accordance with section 15A of the OIA by a further 20 working days (as
defined in the OIA) to
31 January 2017. If we are able to provide the information earlier, we
will do so.
Please let us know if you no longer require this information. For your reference, I have attached
a letter recently sent to prescriber groups regarding the supply situation for trifluroperazine.
Please note you have the right, by way of complaint under section 28(3) of the OIA to an
Ombudsman, to seek an investigation and review of our decision.
Yours sincerely
Peter Alsop
