Re: Official Information Act Request CDHB 9535 
 
We refer to your email dated 24 December 2016 requesting the following information under the Official 
Information Act. 
 
Please provide the total number of hospital beds from 2006 to 2016 at Canterbury District Health 
Board. Yearly count will be great. Please note that the bed volume is the count of physical bed 
capacity (i.e. bed spaces). The count includes beds, roller beds, lazy-boys etc. The data does not 
include patient occupancy volumes. 
 
Consultations which are necessary to make a decision on the request mean that a proper response to 
the request cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit. 
 
The  Canterbury  DHB  therefore  requires  further time  prior  to  issuing our  response.    The  period of  the 
extension is until 27 February 2017. 
 
We are permitted to make this extension under Section 15A of the Official Information Act 1982.  
 
You  have  the  right  to  complain  to  the  Ombudsman  about  our  decision  to  extend  the  time  for 
responding.
