We refer to your email dated 24 March 2017 to Canterbury District Health Board, requesting the
following information under the Official Information Act.
Most recent fee data the Canterbury DHB has access to for all primary care practices under
them. By this I mean the standard set of costs for someone enrolled in a practice to see a GP.
The fees for a standard consultation vary between general practitioners, with the exception of Very
Low Cost Access (VLCA) practices who hold their standard consultation fee at the following
prescribed rates of:
$12 for persons aged 13-17 years of age and
$18 for persons 18 years old and over.
It is important to note that care provided that is ‘in addition to a standard consultation’ may attract
charges on top of the standard consultation fee.
It is a requirement that each General Practice lists their current standard consultation fees on their
website.
As all Canterbury general practices belong to one of three Primary Health Organisations (PHOs) this is
the easiest place to access this publically available information.
The PHO’s websites (listed below) either list their member General Practice’s fee information on
their site and/or a link through to their member General Practices websites.
