I am writing to give you a heads up that the Local Government Commission plans to make an
announcement this Friday at 3.00pm on progress on its work with councils on strengthening
local government the Wellington region. We’ll send you an embargoed media release around
11.30am. We are meeting the Wellington Mayoral Forum in the morning to give them a heads
up.
THE  ACT 
The announcement will take the form of a progress update on the five identified priorities –
Wairarapa governance, transport, water services, spatial planning and economic development.
We will be outlining the background to the transport issue and work that has been done to date,
including an overview of the five options being considered in MartinJenkins’ indicative business
case report.
We expect the draft transport IBC report will be circulated to NZTA and councils next week.
I am happy to meet with you early next week if you have any queries or issues for further
