Waiau Pa Hockey Pavillion 
 
I refer to your enquiry which we received on 13 May 2017, requesting a copy of the builders 
report and the result of the asbestos testing for the Waiau Pa Domain Pavillion building. 
 
Please see attached Assessment Report of the Waiau Pa Domain Pavillion building located 
on the Waiau Pa Domain Recreation Reserve which was completed on 3 May 2017.  
Included in the report are the findings from the asbestos testing which was undertaken at the 
time. The assessment report pertains only to the exterior of the building. The interior of the 
building has not been inspected. 
 
The Community Facilities Operations management and maintenance team have also taken 
steps to isolate the risks associated with the asbestos being present in the building by 
installing a two metre high temporary fence and signage to prevent public accessing the 
building.  
 
A report will be taken to the Franklin Local Board at a later date to bring to their attention the 
current condition of the asset and the asbestos findings at which point options and 
recommendations will be highlighted to the board for future direction and use of the 
community building.
