On behalf of Gabriel Makhlouf, Secretary to the Treasury, I acknowledge receipt of 
your letter requesting: 
 
"Can you explain to me regarding a savings bond I was able to locate on 
Treasury Direct by putting in my birth registration number as the serial number. 
And the month and year I was born as the issue date, that gave me access to the 
calculation value of the savings bond that matured within a 30 year period. Can 
you tell me how is it that the agency that invested that savings bond, using my 
registration number was able to do that? And who was paid out once the bond 
matured." 
 
You also sent a separate email including attachments with the below request: 
 
“Please find attached a letter of request under the Official Information Act 1982, 
copy of calculated value of savings bond, copy of birth certificate registration 
number matching the savings bond series numbers.” 
 
We have combined these requests which were received by the Treasury on 18 May 
2017 and will be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the Official Information 
Act.
