Dear Valerie
Local Government Official Information And Meetings Act 1987
Trespass notices
I refer to your request which we received on 19 June 2017, concerning the number of
trespass notices issued by the council in the past six months. Thank you for your patience
while we have worked on this response.
Auckland Council does not have a centralised list for trespass notices issued, therefore we
have reviewed our trespass records, our health and safety management tool and consulted
with departments that are likely to issue trespass notices.
Please be advised that we cannot ensure all trespass notices were identified during the
collation of this response due to the fact they can be issued by different departments within
the council.
Our response to your questions is as follows:
1. The total number of trespass notices issued by the Council in the past six months,
and a breakdown of where those were issued.

Please note that New Zealand Police sometimes trespass individuals without informing the
council. As such, we have no record of those notices.
Auckland Council takes the trespassing of individuals from a council facility very seriously
and every decision to trespass is taken on its particular circumstances. Generally these will
include acts involving violence or threats of violence, theft, offensive or disorderly behaviour,
or intentional damage to council property. The council’s intention in issuing any trespass
notice is to ensure the safety of our staff and our customers, as well as the protection of
property.
I hope you find this information useful. If you have any further queries please contact me on
09 301 0101, quoting LGOIMA No. 8140001641.
Should you believe Auckland Council has not responded appropriately to your request you
have the right to seek a review of the decision from the Ombudsman.
Yours sincerely
