Dear Ms Ray 
Thank you for your FYI request of 6 October 2017 to Callaghan Innovation.  Your request 
refers to Callaghan Innovation’s expenses on entertainment in the financial year 2015/16.   
In making your request, you say that ‘Callaghan Innovation staff visited “Beer and Burger 
Joint” 188 times in the 12 months leading up to the 30th June 2016’.  You have asked for: 
 
•  An explanation of these “Beer and Burger Joint” expenses and  
•  The location of this establishment. 
 
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).   
Some of these expenses relate to meals for staff who were travelling away from their normal 
office.  Other expenses relate to team meetings, meetings with clients, potential clients, 
professionals and experts in the innovation field, panel members and partners.  The location 
is the Gourmet Burger and Brew Kitchen, 139 Quay Street, Auckland.
