Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request #18.058 – Extension of Time
1.
We refer to your email of 7 September 2018, requesting “full disclosure of any
correspondence or information the Commerce Commission has received in relation to
SwipeHQ, Bank of New Zealand, BNZ PayClip and SmartPay.”
2.
You have since revised your request to clarify that you are seeking correspondence or
information the Commission has received in relation to Bank of New Zealand in respect of
SwipeHQ, BNZ PayClip or SmartPay.
3.
The original date by which the Commission must decide your request is 5 October 2018,
representing 20 working days from our receipt of the request.
4.
Under section 15A(1) of the OIA, the Commission can in certain circumstances extend the
time limit for deciding requests for official information. The Commission will be extending
the deadline to decide your request to 26 October 2018.
5.
The reason for the Commission’s extension of time is that the request is for a large quantity
of official information or necessitates a search through a large quantity of information and
meeting the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with the operations of the
Commission (s15A(1)(a) OIA).
6.
The Commission will advise you of its decision on your request by no later than 26 October
2018.
7.
If you are not satisfied with the Commission’s decision to extend the time for its decision on
your request, you have under s28(3) of the OIA the right to make a complaint to the
Ombudsman about the extension.
Yours sincerely
Rosie Brown
OIA Coordinator
